Input: Add Lane Closure
Automatic Conflict Detection
The system provides automatic conflict detection to alert operators when an overlap in space/time exists between a new or updated closure and an existing closure. The following logic is used when determining if a conflict exists within the system:
- Location Specification: A conflict exists that is caused by overlapping roadways or directions with a built-in buffer of one (1) mile.
- Time Specification: A conflict exists that is caused by overlapping (Start or Stop) times and dates.
Upon creating/modifying a lane closure, the operator is notified of potential conflict visually on the map. The Requesting contact is also notified via email of conflicts between this closure and any existing closures.
Upon selecting the <Save> button, if a conflict is determined by the system, the user interface changes to the "Conflicts" tab, which provides information of potential conflict. Operators are instructed to return to the "Details" tab, correct any discrepancy, and <Save> the closure again to clear the conflict. The table will also show if this conflict was detected through standard means (the rules listed above) or through a custom conflict rule (added by an administrator).
